Circular economy

We are building a circular battery value chain where our battery waste is recycled and we incorporate recycled content when producing new battery cells.
2030 target circularity: 50% of the inactive material in our battery cells is recycled content.
2030 target circularity: 50% of the inactive material in our battery cells is recycled content.

Using recycled battery materials in new production is key if we are to reduce the carbon emitted during the production of battery materials, as well as lessen the  potentially negative environmental impact from mining. Utilising recycled content enables us to bypass the mining and early refining stages of battery material production – stages that typically have high carbon emissions or potential for negative local environmental impact.

Morrow has partnered with Stena Recycling to ensure that battery waste stemming from our production processes in Arendal is recycled and utilised for new battery production. Together with Stena and other European partners, we are also exploring how to build an agile and cost effective circular battery value chain. This will enable  Morrow to tap into industrial waste streams and secure recycled content for both our active and inactive battery cell materials.
