Decarbonisation

We are decarbonising the manufacturing of battery cells and the battery material supply chain.
2030 target decarbonisation: 5 kg CO₂ eq./kWh in high performance LNMO cells.
2030 target decarbonisation: 5 kg CO₂ eq./kWh in high performance LNMO cells.

We are decarbonising our own battery value chain and we are using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) as a tool to understand how we can make the most sustainable choices. We map the carbon footprints at every step.

At our home location in Arendal, Norway we are close to zero emission battery manufacturing due to the use of clean hydro power. However, there remain several carbon emission hotspots in our supply chain, in particular, cathode and anode production.

We have forged a detailed decarbonisation road map where we envision more renewable energy and more use of recycled content. We aim for   best-in-class carbon footprint performance for all our battery cell chemistries, with our LNMO battery cell likely to obtain exceptionally low levels.
